Meet the Doula Night for August is quickly approaching!

August 27, 2011
7:00 pmto9:00 pm

And this means the arrival of your little bundle of joy is also quickly approaching! Don’t be without professional birth and postpartum support when the big day comes. Doulas provide emotional, physical and informational support to the laboring mother/couple. Come and meet the lovely doulas of Get Babied! Doula Collective on Saturday August 27th. The last Saturday Meet the Doula Night is THE one to attend. There’s food, drinks, a guest speaker and a couple sharing their birth story. It’s an all around fun experience.

Here’s the breakdown to the big Meet the Doula Night:

7pm: The doulas are on. We talk about how Get Babied! Doula Collective works, why it works, etc…all the nitty gritty.

715pm: Dawn is walking proof on why you should sign up with Get Babied! as early in your pregnancy as you can. She attended almost all the MTDN she could when she was pregnant. When it came time for her big day, all the doulas were hoping to be hers. Hear her side of her son’s birth story.

730pm: Regan Danforth House, Sr. Sales Director with Mary Kay, will be speaking on the importance of self-care and pampering for mothes, prenatally and postpartum.

745pm: The fun begins. Our famous speed dating of the doulas! We will set up the room and for 3-5minutes you get to speak to as many doulas as you want. You can speak to only certified or apprentice doulas if you know the rotation you will be choosing. Or you can speak with everybody if you are still deciding. Here’s a link to some good questions to ask a doula in an interview: go here

So. Now that you’ve got the scoop on the next MTDN and have jotted it down on your calendar, we look forward to meeting/seeing you!

Meet the Doula Tea Time!

August 9, 2011
7:00 pmto9:00 pm

This upcoming Tuesday we will be hosting our 2nd Meet the Doula Tea Time. This Meet the Doula event is all about getting to know us. I like to call it our ‘no frills’ MTDN. The ‘speed dating’ part is more low key and at a slower pace, giving you more time to talk with each doula.

This is also a fantastic opportunity for moms who are already clients to come and get to know us even more. We view Meet the Doula events as free ‘prenatal’ check ins. It gives moms a chance to air any grievances, ask any questions, and get more face time with each doula.

So, come on out on Tuesday! We look forward to seeing you.

October Meet the Doulas Night

October 30, 2010
7:00 pmto9:00 pm

Join us Saturday October 30th at 7:00 pm at our office at 3823A Airport Blvd for our monthly Meet the Doulas Night.  Please note we are having MTDN on a new night – now the last Saturday of each month (instead of the last Monday of each month).  This is because we need more space to hold all y’all – and our neighbors at Neighborhood Acupuncture Projecthave graciously allowed us the use of their space for the evening.

At 7:00 join us next door to our office at Neighborhood Acupunture Project for a short presentation on what doulas do in general, and what we do at the Get Babied Doula Collective specifically.

At 7:15 special guests Meghen & Everett Hiller share the story of the birth of their baby with the assistance of Amy’s doula skills.  You can read their hypnobirthing success story here: http://www.getbabied.com/2010-08-15/283:

At 7:30 Sandy Allen of Moments from the Heart photography will be speak about “Capturing your birth through images”.  Sandy is a maternity photographer by trade and plans to talk about what to (& not to) photograph as well as simple photography and documentation tips.

At 7:45 we will have a doula “speed dating” session – each of the six of us will be set up stations around our offices with some information about our practice to share.  We encourage you to move from one doula to the next to learn about our practice in more detail, and have time to speak with and get to know each doula as you move around the building.

For those of you who have attended MTDN in the past – speed dating gives you an opportunity to have a more intimate dialog with us and talk with us more personally.  We also want to check in with you since last month to see what is happening in your pregnancy.  We consider this more like a “free prenatal appointment” with snacks and entertainment.  During this time, you’ll have our ear for any other questions or concerns you might have with your pregnancy, labor, delivery or postpartum care.  MTDN is also a great place to turn in paperwork pending.

If you are unable to make it to MTDN – please email us to schedule a free private 30 minute consult at your convenience during our office hours.  The advantage to MTDN of course is you get all six of us at once.

We look forward to seeing you there!

September Meet the Doulas Night

September 27, 2010
7:00 pmto9:00 pm
7:00 pmto9:00 pm

Join us September 27th at 7:00 pm at our office at 3823A Airport Blvd for our monthly Meet the Doulas Night.

At 7:00 we will kick it off by having guests Roslyn & Neil (aka Melissa and Wojicek – names changed for the blog to keep it more private for them) share the story of the birth of their baby with the assistance of my doula skills.  You can read their birth story here: http://www.getbabied.com/2010-08-08/roslyns-birth-story-barbie-youre-a-doll

At 7:15 Hannah Ford of Mint Massage will be sharing some Mayan Abdominal Massage tips for pregnancy.  Hannah Ford is a graduate of the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School, where she is now a member of the faculty.  Hannah does massage in house at the Get Babied! Doula Collective.  www.mintmassage.net

At 7:30 we are going to set up a doula speed dating session – each of the five of us will be set up in one station around our offices with some information about our practice to share, we encourage you to move from one doula to the next to learn about our practice in full, and have time to speak with and get to know each doula as you move around the building.  For those of you who have attended MTDN in the past – we are changing to speed dating from a seated powerpoint presentation to give us the opportunity to have a more intimate dialog with you and talk with you more personally, and to ensure you get a chance to talk to each of us.  (And it prevents any sardine overheating and cramming into the small seated area; we care about you preggos!)

At 8:30 we’ll break for some tea and snacks.  You had the opportunity to hear about our practice and to interview us during speed dating, this is our opportunity to talk with you more one-on-one about your goals for your birth.  We also want to check in with you since last month to see what is happening in your pregnancy.  We consider this more like a “free prenatal appointment” with snacks and entertainment.  During this time, you’ll have our ear for any other questions or concerns you might have with your pregnancy, labor, delivery or postpartum care.

We look forward to seeing you there!

March “Meet the Doulas Night”

Come join us at East-West Family Health Center (2502 Manor Road) on March 29th at 7p.
