Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

There are many benefits of pregnancy massage. Some of these include lower risk of premature birth and induction, shorter labors with fewer complications, decreased pain and anxiety, easier physical post-partum recovery, and lower risk of post-partum depression. And it just feels great!

How It Works

At your first appointment, you’ll need to complete a short intake form. The massage therapist will talk with you briefly about what issues you’re having and where you’d like her to focus during the massage, and will explain how to position yourself on the table. She will step out for a moment to wash her hands and give you time to undress and get on the table under the top sheet. You can either disrobe completely or leave your underwear on; it doesn’t matter to our team. Most clients just take everything off. You will be modestly draped throughout the session. The therapist will check with you throughout the massage to make sure the pressure is comfortable for you, and would love for you to tell her if anything feels uncomfortable or especially good. Lots of pregnant mamas enjoy chatting and getting to know our therapists during their sessions, but sometimes you might just want to relax and go deep inside yourself. She’ll take her cues from you – we just want your massage to be as blissful as possible. After the session is over, the therapist will step out so you can get dressed, and then she’ll come back in to get your feedback on the massage. The session can last thirty, sixty, or ninety minutes. You should allow an extra fifteen minutes at your first appointment to complete your paperwork, consult with the therapist, and get changed.
