Get Comfortable!

Get Comfortable! Comfort Measures for Labor

Get Babied! is excited to be on the forefront of prenatal care advancement.   We will be implementing a group model for prenatal visits and look forward to providing you with the highest level of quality care.  Register here for your group prenatal appointment.  Class fee is $30 per couple.  Add a private birth plan consult before or after the class for an additional $20.  (normally $30 when done independently)

The appointment begins at 3:00 pm on the third Sunday of each month at our office, 1825 E 38 1/2 St.   The class  covers breathing techniques, Lamaze, Hypnobirthing and Bradley cliffs notes, visualizations, birth affirmations, hand, foot, shoulder, back massage techniques, acupressure points, counterpressure, double hip squeeze, a review of comfort measures for labor and a run over of our doula tool kits, a tutorial on positions for labor, positions for pushing, signs of early labor and tips for laboring at home, when to call your doula, and a guided relaxation exercise.  It’s our job to educate you beyond what to expect; we want to show you what to do!  The class time is followed by a circle discussion time and socializing and refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there!

“I super duper loved the comfort measures class.  I left the class feeling so empowered and ready to give birth.  We definitely used the techniques we learned in class during labor and they were so helpful.” – Christina B. mom to Marlowe born 10/30/2011

Our group appointments are inspired by the Centering Heathcare Institute.  Centering is a model of group health care, which incorporates three major components: assessment, education, and support. Group participants meet with their care provider and other group participants according to a regular schedule for a much longer period of time (usually 90-120 minutes) than a usual check-up visit. Centering promotes individual health empowerment and community-building.  For more information about the centering health care initiative, please visit www.centeringhealthcare.org
