Get Fed!

Feeding your baby–Demystifying Baby-led Weaning and Homemade Baby Food — Offering parents an opportunity to consider a world beyond jars for feeding their babies.

Weaning is the complete process of transitioning a baby from milk-only to the adult diet, not just the day breastfeeding ends.  Baby-led weaning is a philosophy and practice that depends on babies’ natural development and honors your baby’s ability to participate actively in eating from a very young age.  Combining baby-led weaning with homemade baby food is a natural pairing.  Many parents think that cooking their baby’s food would be too hard, too time consuming, and that they somehow run the risk of “doing it wrong.” The second part of this class aims to show parents that with the right (very simple, very inexpensive, very accessible) tools and a little know-how, feeding your baby natural, less processed foods is easy and enjoyable.
Topics include:

* Current best practices for infant feeding
* Principles of baby-led weaning
* What’s really in the jar?
* Helpful tools for preparing food for your baby
* Stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 recipe ideas
* It’s not all or nothing! Making homemade baby food fit into your life
* Further resources
