The Get Babied Foundation’s ParentU Presents : Elimination Communication and Early Potty Training!

April 17th, 2012

Join us this Saturday at ParentU for the next installation of our series!

Class is from 3-5 PM in the Get Babied classroom and FREE childcare is available!  Take advantage of the low cost tuition ($5.00) and get a 2 hour kid free break to learn the ins and outs of toileting at an early age!

Elimination Communication and Early Potty Training!

Join Andrea as she guides you through the gentle, loving, method of elimination communication. She will teach you how to communicate with even the youngest baby in this natural, noncoercive approach to potty training that can save thousands of dollars in diapering costs, prevent painful diaper rash, and lead to happier, healthier babies. Learn how to incorporate the techniques into your daily routine even if you’re part-time pottying. Discover ways to nurture your baby through a process of early potty training that can be effective with or without diapers. Most importantly, find the absolute joy in understanding what your tiny infant is saying to you! Turn toileting training in a positive experience, rather than a battle of wills!

Topics Include:

  • · Overview of Potty Training methods
  • · Basic Philosophy of EC
  • · Discovery: Learning Timing and Patterns
  • · Signals and Cues
  • · EC Positions
  • · Potty Pauses and Strikes
  • · Parental Attitude
  • · The No-No’s of Infant Toileting
  • · Dispelling the Myths
  • · Helpful Resources

Andrea Norman, an RN of over 15 years, also holds a BS in Business. As a health professional, Andrea became intrigued when first learning about the concept of infant toileting because of the obvious health and hygiene benefits. After successfully implementing the techniques with her own child, she is excited to teach other parents and caregivers to do the same.

Next month join us for URBAN FARMING!!!

Upcoming! Mark your calendars! It’s Meet the Doula Night!

September 19th, 2011

On the last Saturday of the month, Get Babied! Doula Collective hosts its famous Meet the Doula Night. This is a great way to get introduced to the collective, meet some other moms, snack on some food and hear some great presentations. And, let’s not forget, it’s also a great way to meet all the fabulous Get Babied doulas and lactation consultants!

This month’s presenters are amazing. First we will hear Stephanie and Ben share the birth story of Oliver. You can read about Stephanie’s amazing calming superpower during labor here.

After the birth story, we will have guest Sarah Ricord Greisemer speaking about self-care during the mother-child bonding process.

Then, once the presentations are over, the speed dating begins! Here is how it breaks down:

  • Upon arriving, you will receive a name tag with a number on it
  • After the presentations, we will break for five minutes so guests can use the bathroom, get refreshments and the doulas can get set up in the speed dating station
  • Find the appropriate number that corresponds with your name tag and then move up the numbers when it’s time to move onto the next doula

Super easy! You will get about 3-5 minutes with each doula and although it is brief, it’s a great way to get started as a Get Babied client. If you are already a client, we encourage you to return to MTDN! We treat it as a free prenatal session and a great way to check in and see how things are going.

We look forward to meeting you!

Tuesday Meet the Doula Tea!

September 6th, 2011

In exactly one week, you will have another chance to meet the doulas at our Meet the Doula Tea event! This MTDT is what I like to call our ‘no frills, informal’ meet and greet. It’s completely about meeting the doulas and deciding whether Get Babied! Doula Collective is a good fit for your birth and postpartum needs.

If you are already a client, this event is a perfect way to get to know the doulas a bit more before your big day. We like to view it as a free ‘prenatal session’ as well. We get to see how our clients are doing and if there is anything we can do to address concerns and cheer on any progress.

So, next Tuesday, September 13th, we would love to see you! We will have tea and snacks in the office and look forward to seeing you all there.

Meet the Doula Night for August is quickly approaching!

And this means the arrival of your little bundle of joy is also quickly approaching! Don’t be without professional birth and postpartum support when the big day comes. Doulas provide emotional, physical and informational support to the laboring mother/couple. Come and meet the lovely doulas of Get Babied! Doula Collective on Saturday August 27th. The last Saturday Meet the Doula Night is THE one to attend. There’s food, drinks, a guest speaker and a couple sharing their birth story. It’s an all around fun experience.

Here’s the breakdown to the big Meet the Doula Night:

7pm: The doulas are on. We talk about how Get Babied! Doula Collective works, why it works, etc…all the nitty gritty.

715pm: Dawn is walking proof on why you should sign up with Get Babied! as early in your pregnancy as you can. She attended almost all the MTDN she could when she was pregnant. When it came time for her big day, all the doulas were hoping to be hers. Hear her side of her son’s birth story.

730pm: Regan Danforth House, Sr. Sales Director with Mary Kay, will be speaking on the importance of self-care and pampering for mothes, prenatally and postpartum.

745pm: The fun begins. Our famous speed dating of the doulas! We will set up the room and for 3-5minutes you get to speak to as many doulas as you want. You can speak to only certified or apprentice doulas if you know the rotation you will be choosing. Or you can speak with everybody if you are still deciding. Here’s a link to some good questions to ask a doula in an interview: go here

So. Now that you’ve got the scoop on the next MTDN and have jotted it down on your calendar, we look forward to meeting/seeing you!

Meet the Doula Tea Time!

This upcoming Tuesday we will be hosting our 2nd Meet the Doula Tea Time. This Meet the Doula event is all about getting to know us. I like to call it our ‘no frills’ MTDN. The ‘speed dating’ part is more low key and at a slower pace, giving you more time to talk with each doula.

This is also a fantastic opportunity for moms who are already clients to come and get to know us even more. We view Meet the Doula events as free ‘prenatal’ check ins. It gives moms a chance to air any grievances, ask any questions, and get more face time with each doula.

So, come on out on Tuesday! We look forward to seeing you.
